Teaching Experience


Giberthorpe School

Feb. 2020 - Jan. 2021, Full-time Fixed position Year 2 & 3

Reading and Wellbeing have been the school foci this year. I took part in the Accelerating Learning in Literacy (ALL) program to support children accelerate with their progress in reading. I continued to practice PB4L through the weekly Fish values and the Zones of Regulations for creating a positive learning environment. 

Feb. 2019 - Jan. 2019, Full-time Fixed position  Year 1 & 2

This year the school launched the 'Play-based Learning' program for the junior hub. It's been a great learning and practising the coasting and positive behaviour management skills. 

July - Dec. 2018 (Term 3 and Term 4)  - Full-time Fixed term position in Year 1

April - July 2018, (Term 2)  - 0.4 Release Teaching in Year 6 and relieving on request at other schools

This year the school's focus has been adopting the '7 principles of learning' to our teaching practice. Subsequently,  the 'Ako Bases learning' programme has been created, and I have been working collaboratively with one other Year 2 teacher.  

 

Feb. - Dec. 2016 Permanent position - Year 3

I continued with practising the Maths and Reading programmes as a full-time class teacher. By attending the Maths Leader and Unpacking Number workshops, I was able to improve the effectiveness of teaching and learning.  The 'Action Station' learning was also continued with improvement. During Passion Time, I ran the Science programme for the year which I enjoyed very much. 

 

 

Feb. - Dec.  2015 Fixed Term Position, Term 1-4, 0.6 EFT Class Teacher - Year 3         

I shared and taught in a year 3 classroom. I taught the Rich Task in Maths, and the Daily Five and the CAFE programmes in Reading.  I have provided the children with interactive, hands-on learning activities by implementing 'Action Stations'. 

 

Feb. - Dec. 2014 ESOL teacher and a Year 4/5 class release teacher 

I continued teaching ESOL as well as releasing in a Year 4/5 class in 2014.  I aimed to deliver more explicit ESOL teaching and focus on meeting individual's need while continuing with a language experience-based programme. 

 

Feb. - Dec. 2013 ESOL teacher and a Year 3/4 class release teacher

In 2013, I taught 5 ESOL groups of year 1 - 5 children and also released in a Year 3/4 classroom. I was responsible for planning, teaching and assessing the ESOL children. To engage the ESOL children effectively in their language learning, I integrated technology in teaching and witnessed the effectiveness of the language learning through visual and language experiences.

Product Category Manager, Snow Peak Limited (Dec. 2009 - Feb. 2011)

I was responsible for managing all activities of the business including marketing of the Bike category which included planning, coordinating

and executing the business strategies.

 

Operations Manager, Pacific Brands Group (NZ) (Dec. 2005 - Aug. 2008)

My roles were to increase operational efficiency in all areas of the business including the management of two manufacturing units in NZ, and market and management of the export business.

 

Operations Manager, Arthur Ellis Limited (Mar. 2001 - Nov. 2005)

The main objective of the role was to plan, execute and monitor on- and off-shore product purchases. Responsibilities also included managing export accounts in Japan and Korea.
